Long Before the dinosaurs existed, the world was inhabited by all sorts of different animals. Evolution has left many different species of animals as the dominant race in history.

As can be seen above, many different species pf animals dominated the planet before the dinosaurs showed up. The longest of which being the reptiles, who have dominated the planet for over 200 million years. Us humans have only been the dominant species for 10,000 years.
The first two species that started the reptiles dominan were the apex predators, dimetrodons, and their prey, the edaphosaurous.
